Dr. Cardinal Warde joined the faculty of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1974, where he is currently Professor of Electrical Engineering. He graduated from the Stevens Institute of Technology (with high honor) in 1969, and received the M.Phil. and Ph.D. degrees in physics in 1971 and 1974, respectively, from Yale University.
.Professor Warde's current research activities are centered on the development of: (1) compact optoelectronic neural network co-processors for brain-like computing, (2) imaging multispectral-polarimetric sensors, (3) light modulators for optical switching and projection displays based on micro-electro-mechanical-systems (MEMS), and (4) high-resolution adaptive wavefront phase compensation systems for imaging and optical communications. He has published over one-hundred-fifty technical papers on optical materials, devices and systems, and he is the holder of twelve patents on spatial light modulators, displays and optical information processing systems.
As an entrepreneur, Dr. Warde founded Optron Systems, Inc. in 1982, and then in 1999 co-founded Radiant Images, Inc. Radiant Images was subsequently acquired by the Hoya Corporation of Japan in 2004. Radiant Images was a manufacturer of transparent liquid-crystal microdisplays for use in display eyeglasses, compact computer projectors and TV monitors, and cellular phones and digital cameras.
Dr. Warde is a fellow of the Optical Society of America, and an Associate Editor of the Journal of Display Technology. He has spent sabbaticals as a Visiting Professor at the University of California (San Diego), Alabama A & M University, Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, and the Barbados and Trinidad campuses of the University of the West Indies. Previously, he served as a member of the Board of Trustees of Stevens Institute of Technology.

彼に関し、少なくともその性格と知識の広さから社外取締役の候補に加えることに賛成です。実際、この様な方が候補として選択肢に加わる事で、「選ぶ側」の選択の幅も広がるでしょうし・・。
